lo-fi little black book.

Resources for lo-fi lovers. Mostly in London, but some great online shops too.

Lomography Gallery Store East London
117 Commercial Street, London, E1 6BG
Second London branch, offering lomo cameras, accessories and films. Plus in-house processing.

Photographers' Gallery London

The bookshop within this gallery has Europe's best selection, plus loads of rare analogue photography treats and supplies. The entire gallery and shop is closed until 19 May 2012 for refurbishments, however, a selection is available via their online store.

Calumet Photographic (W1)

Mainly caters for digital enthusiasts and pros, but also has a good stock of pro quality films. Smaller than the NW1 shop.

Calumet Photographic (NW1)

Like the W1 branch, this shop mainly caters to the digital crowd, but it's also one of the best places in town to stock up on film.

Reliable and affordable film processing. Also offers cross processing, sprockets, panoramic and B&W services. They even process 160 and 127 films! Before heading in, check their website for details of specials on film developing.

Located inside the Lomography Gallery Store in East London, the Lomolab offers every processing service a lomohead could possibly desire. Mail order also available.

Snappy Snaps Bloomsbury
76 Marchmont Street, London, WC1N 1AG
I've found that quality between branches of this high street mini lab can vary greatly. The Bloomsbury branch was recommended to me by a fellow film geek, worth going out of your way to visit.

The Vault Imaging
1 Dorset Place, Brighton, East Sussex, BN2 1ST
I used this lab when I was in Brighton last year for the Hot Shots course, and the results were fantastic. This professional service doesn't come cheap, but is extremely high quality.

Courses

Hotshots with Kevin Meredith
Brighton, East Sussex
This two-day course is essential for anyone looking to shake up their photography. You'll use a LC-A camera (provided) on the first day. Groups are kept small (six people max) to ensure you get plenty of focused, hands on help. £200.

Photofusion
17A Electric Lane, London, SW9 8LA
Offers a range of courses on studio and digital photography. But analogue lovers may be interested to try out their black and white darkroom printing course, run over two evenings.

Frui - Photography holidays
Frui offer photography holidays in Vietnam, India, Italy, Turkey, Croatia, Morocco, Ireland and Germany. I haven't been on one yet - but have read rave reviews. From the descriptions they seem to be tailored to those wanting to improve their digital SLR skills.

e-course
This isn't so much a photography techniques course, it's more about self discovery through photography. This course is one for the ladies only, and is led by the lovely Susannah Conway, a highly regarded polaroid photographer, blogger and author. I completed this course in 2009 and really enjoyed it. It played a big part in making me fall in love with photography all over again - and it inspired me to start blogging!
